Redmi Note 7 Pro (48MP Camera Beast)- Sufficient to make it a massive hit?

note 7

We often come across the metaphor “Beauty and the beast” and apparently Xiaomi was well aware to utilize a catch-line similar to that for their marketing benefit during lately launched device MI Note 7 Pro.

Slogan as “48 MP Camera Beast”, let us ascertain if its beast camera coupled with beautiful exterior design and added characteristics would do justice to its “phraseology” and could create carnage in the smartphone jungle.
Redmi Note 7 Pro was introduced to the world long ago and curiosity generated amidst the crowd prior to its launch to know what accessory will it include or will it be similar to its predecessor.
Redmi Note 7 pro is preceded by Note 6 pro and it contains almost all the components that Note 6  pro was equipped with and other supplementary features to enhance its performance and quality.
Beginning with unboxing, a 10 W charger, USBC cable and SIM ejection tool would appear in the front. Exploring the handset further, it comes in classic space black color which is glossy on the surface and appealing enough to hold all your interest. Though we have options in color in the form of Nebula Red and Neptune Blue, believe me, space black color is a sight to behold.
Inspecting its exterior look slightly more, we will find power lock/unlock button on the right edge of the handset. Move further up on the right side and there exist a volume rocker controller. At the top of the handset, there is a secondary microphone along with 3.5mm headphone jack and type C port. Approaching to its left edge, we run into the sim tray, unfortunately it comes with hybrid configuration where either 2 sim cards could be inserted or 1 sim card and a memory card could occupy it.
At the bottom edge of the handset, we will find microphone/speaker grills and USBC ports.
Turn the smartphone around and we would bump into Finger print scanner, 48+5 MP dual camera set up and LED flash.
It is protected by 2.5D curved Corning gorilla glass 5 on the front and the rear side. 2.5D refers to the angle by which the edge of the glass display is curved.
What strikes our mind the moment we hear the word smartphone? I concur, it is its display and Xiaomi has left no stones unturned to make its display anything less than impeccable.
The display arrives with slightly above the average size of 6.3 inches, 97.4 cm2 (~81.4% screen-to-body ratio) along with the display type of IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. IPS (in-plane switching) is a screen technology for liquid-crystal displays (LCDs). The advantage of IPS LCD over other screen technology is it provides better color reproduction and a wider, more accurate viewing angle.
Having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and aspect ratio of 19.5:9, the device comes with a bezel-less display and waterdrop notch. (For uninitiated, aspect ratio is the ratio of the width to the height of an image or screen)
Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with an upgraded version of the chipset, graphics and processors which Redmi Note 6 Pro was dearth of. The handset comes with an octa-core (2GHz dual-core Kryo 460 + 1.7GHz hexa-core Kryo 460) processor setup that is based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset.
The upgraded Kryo 460 CPU, built on Arm Cortex technology, provides a 20% boost in overall performance from the previous generation – empowering more efficient multitasking.
For the graphical part, the smartphone comes with Adreno 612 GPU.
As the tagline suggests, Camera is the USP of Redmi Note 7 pro and the dual camera setup comprises of a primary 48MP sensor with f/1.79 aperture coupled with a 5MP depth-sensor.
To the best of my knowledge, hitherto only 5 smartphones are launched in India with 48MP rear camera set up, including Redmi Note 7 Pro. So what makes xiaomi more desirable when compared to its rival?
Its price, the market price of Redmi Note 7 pro is INR 13,999 whereas other smartphones with corresponding camera features would cost you within the range of 23k-40k, implying that you have to lose your pockets almost twice for other smartphones than what you would spent on Redmi Note 7 Pro.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro packs a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0, so moderate users of social networking sites can expect it to run for at least 8-9 hours.
Ardent gamers would need to console themselves when the battery will be drained up after 5-6 hours.
The device is available in two vaiants viz. 4GB RAM with 64GB internal memory and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal memory, the external memory could be extended up to 256GB with a memory card slot provided (use sim 2 slot)
Other connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, Infrared, USB OTG, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India) with active 4G on gyroscope, volte, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The Redmi Note 7 Pro supports face unlock, support 4g+4g sims at a time
Having done with the comprehensive outlook of Redmi note 7 pro with respect to its design, performance and capacity, let us plunge into the many facets of what does or does not make this smartphone worthy to rest in your pocket.
1.At the base price of INR 13,999 Redmi Note 7 pro rolled up with 48MP Camera and Snapdragon 675 chipset which was previously dedicated to only premium high end smartphones.
2. Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset will offer better PUBG gaming experience compared to other mid-tier chipsets like the Snapdragon 660 or the Snapdragon 636,so be ready to scale up your gaming experience to an entirely new level.
3.With 4000mAH battery power, the charging would shoot up from 10% to 100% within 80 minutes as it supports “quick charge” which is a fast charging technology.
4.As the device is protected with P2I water repellent coating, it would help evading water damage to a great extent.
Although, all the above mentioned factors would make Redmi Note 7 pro a great deal to go for, let me allude you to some of the negative aspects which could act as hindrance in the long run.
1.Redmi Note 7 pro has already received flak due to its hybrid sim configuration which will not be preferred by many users.
If you are a dual sim user, then extendable memory of upto 256 GB would go in vain as you could not reap its benefit due to the slots accommodated by the sim cards.
2.If you are of the thought that 48MP will enable you to click photos swiftly as we are accustomed snapping in standard cameras, please hold a while since there exist a processing delay of 8-10 secs every-time you go for a shot.
If you dare to interrupt the shot amidst specified period of time, the photo will not be clicked and you have to go through the entire process again.
Considering that 48MP Camera is the key player for Redmi Note 7 pro, Xiaomi should have dealth with it meticulously and is expected to ameliorate the issue at the earliest.
Taking everything into account, Redmi Note 7 pro comes with varieties of classy features that other smartphones deprived at this price range.
It is a budgeted device that provides you to experience some elements of upper mid range smartphones without making you to pay through your nose.
If you have budget constraints and simultaneously longing for incredible photos along with excellent graphics to satiate your gaming appetite, Redmi Note 7 pro arrives to fulfill your expectations.

Nokia 9 PureView launch, availability and pricing leaks online

HMD Global’s newest member to join their flagship lineage- Nokia 9 Pureview is one of the most anticipated device of the year. It will certainly be the first device to have 5 camera under the hood

The device has been leaked  several times in the past, giving us a good idea on how the device might look, features, and specifications to say the least. However, the phone’s launch and availability, as well as pricing information, was unknown, until now.

According to the new reports, the Nokia 9 PureView will be launch in late January, ahead of MWC 2019. This is in line with the report that indicated that the launch could take place in the last week of January. The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) is scheduled to take place in late February in Spain, Barcelona.

Another report suggests that company’s upcoming flagship smartphone will be first launched in the European market. It also adds that the phone will be priced at 749 Euros (approximately $851) and 799 Euros (approximately $908) depending upon the market.

While the Penta-camera setup on the back panel of the phone makes it interesting, the phone’s specifications aren’t exciting as it feels like a 2018 flagship phone rather than a 2019 one. It is said to be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with up to 6GB or 8GB RAM.

It is expected to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio screen and may carry support for Quad HD+ resolution. It could also be the first Nokia smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is also expected to be powered by a 4,150mAh battery that may carry support for wireless charging.

Intel rumored to have convinced Microsoft not to choose ARM for their Surface Go product

no thumb

Microsoft launched its new Surface Go device earlier this month with an Intel Pentium Gold processor inside. It’s been one of the main focus points for discussions around performance and mobility for this 10-inch Surface, and lots of people have wondered why Microsoft didn’t opt for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors and Windows on ARM. Paul Thurrott reports that Microsoft wanted to use an ARM processor for the Surface Go, but that Intel intervened.
Intel reportedly “petitioned Microsoft heavily” to use its Pentium Gold processors instead of ARM ones. It’s not clear why Microsoft didn’t push ahead with its ARM plans for Surface Go, but in my own experience the latest Snapdragon chips simply don’t have the performance and compatibility to match Intel on laptops just yet. Microsoft has been working hard to improve this though, despite Intel’s threats it would sue competitors like Qualcomm if they attempt to emulate Intel’s x86 instruction set architecture.

It’s certainly an interesting time for Windows on ARM. New devices with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 850 processor will debut in time for the holiday season, but a new chip with even more performance improvements will be available early next year. ARM also laid out a two-year roadmap for its processor designs recently, and unveiled a Cortex-A76 CPU earlier this year. ARM claims the Cortex-A76 will deliver laptop-class performance while drawing smaller amounts of power like smartphones do.
It’s still early days for Windows on ARM, and once app compatibility, emulation, and performance is all improved then it could spell some serious trouble for Intel’s laptop dominance. Microsoft is also pushing ahead with ARM server designs, threatening Intel’s dominance in the datacenter. Intel has been struggling to move towards its next-generation 10nm Cannon Lake processors, with mass production of the chips now expected for 2019instead of the end of 2018 as originally planned. Intel now faces a fight for its future, with strong competition from AMD, Nvidia, and Qualcomm making it a turbulent time in the ongoing processor and platform battles.

Nokia D1C to have two hardware versions, specs leak

gsmarena_002 (1)
2017 will be the year of the Nokia brand’s re-entry into the smartphone space. This has already been confirmed multiple times by the Finnish company itself, most recently a couple of weeks ago. One of the first new Android-powered devices to bear the Nokia name is set to be the D1C, which we’ve so far seen leaked in three different benchmark databases. And while one of those pegged its screen size at 13.8″, the reality is that this will in fact be a phone, according to a new rumor on the matter.
Well, not one phone, but two actually. Apparently we’re set to see a lower-end 5-inch Nokia D1C with a 1080p touchscreen, 2GB of RAM, a 13 MP main camera, an 8 MP selfie shooter, and 16GB of built-in storage. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, sporting a 1.4 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 505 GPU. It will run Android 7.0 Nougat.

Another D1C variation will keep all of those specs, except for packing a bigger 5.5-inch display (with the same 1080p resolution though), a 16 MP rear camera, and 3GB of RAM. Both models are already in the prototype testing phase, say purportedly reliable sources. Additionally, one or both of them might look similar to what’s pictured in the renders above.
No clues about pricing have been outed yet, or any specific release time frame. Nokia could make these official at MWC in February, or it may hold a special event of its own at some other time for their introduction.

OnePlus 5 to come with 8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 835 Soc?

We already know that OnePlus might skip the number 4 when it comes to their next flagship device mainly because it (No. 4) resembles the symbol of death in China. Now a report has surfaced online in China which has revealed that OnePlus will come with 8GB of RAM. Just like the company’s earlier OnePlus 3 smartphone which was one of the first handsets to come with 6GB of RAM, with 8GB RAM OnePlus 5 also might be first of the handsets to come with such a huge memory configuration.

Moreover, as per the leaks, OnePlus 5 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. If this stands true, OnePlus 5 will give direct competition to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S8 which also comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The OnePlus 5 is also expected to come with a much more sleeker frame in addition to an improved display. Furthermore, the leak says that OnePlus 5 will sport a dual camera setup and the setup would be vertical instead of horizontal as generally located in most smartphones today.

As per earlier rumours, the OnePlus 5 will be featuring a dual edged display just like the Galaxy S7 Edge. The smartphone will flaunt a 23-megapixel rear camera and 16-megapixel front camera for selfies which is similar to OnePlus 3 at least in terms of megapixels. The device is expected to come with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64 GB or 128GB of internal storage and 256GB of expandable memory via micro sd card slot. The smartphone is said to feature a ceramic body like the Xiaomi Mi Mix which is in-line with earlier reports that the company is planning to replace the aluminium body of the phone with a ceramic one. OnePlus 5 is tipped to come with ceramic bodyshell made by the same firm which created the Xiaomi Mi Mix’s ceramic exterior.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 5 is said to house a 4000mAh battery with Dash Charge fast charging support. It will come with a Type-C USB port and with wireless charging. OnePlus 5 is said to be running on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box, and OnePlus OxygenOS UI on top of it.

As per rumours, OnePlus 5 is likely to be announced at the end of Q2 2017. We advise our readers to take these specs with a pinch of salt as none of these has been officially confirmed by OnePlus. Stay tuned to The Mobile Indian network for more updates on this.
